Many H&F residents need support to understand their personal finances and manage their money effectively. As a Money Skills Trainer, you will play a vital role in helping community members grasp common money-related issues and improve their overall financial well-being. This is a front-facing role where you will deliver presentations, engage in discussions and help develop ideas and materials used to educate our borough.
Key Responsibilities
– Facilitation and Delivery: Lead presentations and discussions on everyday money management topics, including budgeting, saving, benefits, pensions, wills, energy bills and scams.
– Content Development: Assist in developing and revising training materials to ensure effectiveness for diverse audiences.
– Community Outreach: Deliver sessions at Citizens Advice offices or on-site at various community groups.
– Safety and Reporting: Identify and report concerns regarding vulnerable adults, particularly when discussing topics like financial abuse of the elderly.
– Impact Measurement: Collect feedback and session data to help measure outreach effectiveness.

– Presentation & Adaptation: The capacity to adapt delivery styles for different learners.
– Communication & Empathy: Ability to engage with people from various backgrounds and maintain a non-judgmental approach toward those in financial distress.
– Numerical Comfort: Confidence in explaining financial concepts such as interest rates compound interest and budget calculations accurately.
– Technical Proficiency: Basic IT skills to run presentations and navigate online tools.
– Organisation: A structured approach to managing session prep and educational materials.
Professional Standards & Requirements: You will learn
– Boundaries of Advice: Understanding the difference between providing financial education (guidance) and providing regulated financial advice.
– Confidentiality: Commitment to handling sensitive personal information in accordance with GDPR and Citizens Advice policies.
– Continuous Learning: How to update yourself on fast-changing topics, such as new scam tactics or updated bank reimbursement rules.
– Compliance: Successful completion of a DBS (criminal records) check if required.
